A Message From The Founding Board of Directors
"Successful rescue of any animal has such a tremendous emotional impact on our lives. Sometimes it is like a roller coastar. Working feverishly to save a life and being minutes late is traumatic and devastating. But the elation and satisfaction of seeing the rescue, plucked from that certain death, blossoming into a loving companion in a successful foster program, and bringing joy to its new forever home is something that makes it all worth while. This success does not happen and is not accomplished by one person, or even a few, it truly is a group effort. Thank You All for visiting our Toller Rescue Inc website, and please consider Volunteering or Donating to our worthy cause."
Welcome to our Toller Rescue Inc. Website.
We are a National non-profit, 501(c)(3) charity incorporated in Delaware. Please note that we have had to remove all of the clickable links to our emails as we were getting spammed and emails compromised.
We are a rescue network of dedicated Toller enthusiasts and volunteers across America who have pooled our resources, time, energies, and open our homes to Tollers in need. Through our work and generous financial donations of Toller lovers, we provide the best quality of life we can including but not limited to: shelter (short or long term foster care), veterinary care, comprehensive evaluations, and training (rehabilitation) for homeless, stray, abandoned, abused, and neglected Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers of any age or health condition.
We help the potential adoptive family determine IF a Toller is the right breed for them, carefully screen each potential adoptive home which includes a home visit, and stay in contact with each Rescue Toller for life which includes the promise to take back the Rescue Toller no matter what the circumstance.
We are eager to assist other Rescue organizations in identification and will help with appropriate placement.
Our rescue work also extends to the rescue of Toller like mixes in dire strights, dogs that have significant characteristics (including temperament) of a pure bred Toller, but lack enough to make us believe they are not pure bred.
Another facet of Toller Rescue Inc. is that we encourage any Toller owner to contact Toller Rescue Inc. if they are having problems with their Toller. Many of our volunteers have years of experience in Toller behavior and training, and can discuss potential solutions to the owners problem. We feel this helps avoid a rescue situation.
If you have, or know of a Toller in need, Please contact Toller Rescue: tollerrescueinc at gmail dot com. We will work to find a local member that can help assist you.
Our work is indeed a passion that we are all committed to. For more detailed information on Our Mission, please visit Our Mission page. If you would like to volunteer, we would love to welcome you to our program. Please click on the Toller Rescue link at the bottom of any page and let us hear from you. We hope you enjoy visiting our web site.

The Meaning of Rescue
Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.I'd like to open my baggage Lest I forget,There is so much to carry--so much to regret.Hmm . . . Yes there it is, right on the top.
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss; And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame. As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave,I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain. I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,But I wasn't good enough--for they didn't want me.Will you add to my baggage? Will you help me unpack?Or will you just look at my things--and take me right back?Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage, To never repack?I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,But I do come with baggage - Will you still want me?Written by Janine Allen CPDT, Rescue Me Dog's professional dog trainer. Janine's passion is working with people and their dogs. She provides demonstrations for those who have adopted shelter dogs, lends email support to adopted dog owners that need information beyond our Training Support Pages, and aids shelter staff and volunteers in understanding dog behavior to increase their adoptability. Rescue, The Beginning at the Shelter
Rescue, Now the Matriarch of her Household
This precious Toller was taken in by the NSDTRC-USA rescue program from a shelter and subsequently placed into the loving foster care. She then adopted me in October 2002. She was known as the USA Toller club rescue program’s “poster child.” Rescue now experiences the pleasures of everyday life and knows the joys of swimming, retrieving, boats, and ducks--all of which she “told” me she'd never known before.
